Description
With Reciprocity in your invisible garment pattern, you have an amplified understanding of the nature of balance. The statement “what comes around goes around” may be part of a comprehension of what Reciprocity means, but it’s only a small part. Reciprocity puts you in touch with the bridges between dimensions. It’s through Reciprocity that you can look at two dimensional objects or drawings and create a three dimensional visual in your head-brain. I love to look at Escher drawings because they are so very two dimensional, and in fact they depict impossible scenarios with staircases that lead nowhere and corners that don’t actually turn. BUT, they also force my brain to reside in an inter-dimensional consciousness for a while.
Reciprocity and Awareness work together to bridge the Ascending Principles with the Containing Principles. When one embraces paradox (Awareness) and balance (Reciprocity) simultaneously, one has leapt into the principles we describe as “uniquely human.” The outer focus points of these two principles are intentionally vague, because their influence pushes you toward the use of the human brain and away from the sensations and physical “knowingness” of the of Nature. Imagination evolves as we move from Ascending to Containing principles.

I’m strongly contracted with Reciprocity – it’s my Sun principle.
The lemniscate, the infinity sign, seems to me to be the absolute perfect symbol for Reciprocity. I think of the center as the balance point – the resting place between extending outward and drawing in. The center balance point is the bridge in the endless cycle of breathing and allowing; appreciating and opening; deepening and relaxing. There has to be a stillpoint between the outbreath and the inbreath that connects it all. Receiving, having, giving are all part of unified expression.
But even more importantly I love the lemniscate symbol as a Reciprocity reminder because it perfectly represents the Whole/All as a circle, which is then pinched in the center causing those two loops. We move from wholeness (the circle) into the illusion of separation (the loops), but we need that center point to understand – to bridge the separateness with understanding that everything is actually connected. We need to see the finite because we can’t see the infinite. Reciprocity is a way to know ALL.
Reciprocity flows. Just as what you have contained for a moment, then is released – like water poured into a cup, held, and then poured out again. Each phase is important, but none more than any other. Together it is seen as the whole.
I think it’s equally important to remember our own sovereignty. We are each an important part of the equation – not more important than others, but not less either. The reminder of Reciprocity is to not hold back; not to shrink; not to puff yourself up excessively. To be in balance. Then the flow can move with ease, unimpeded.
Reciprocity is a mutual act. Each of us has an inherent responsibility to share/collaborate through the giving and receiving, but also to be aware of what we are currently holding. Everything is in this cycle – everything is participating. It’s especially easy to see this in nature.
Being able to see/feel the balance – the connection between everything is a real gift of Reciprocity. Likewise, paying attention to the ways I’m out of balance helps me understand the cycle as well. If I find myself breathing shallowly – not taking in what is mine – it’s a sure bet there’s some other place I’m not receiving gifts offered to me. If I’m stuck in thinking without acting, it’s helpful to look at what other places I’m failing to give. It’s all mirrored back to us perfectly.
